Beaches

30 Minutes away.
Top rejuvinating beach walks.

Broughty Ferry

Just 30 minutes away, the seaside village of Broughty Ferry on the outskirts of Dundee, is a delightful place to spend an afternoon or an evening.

There’s a good selection of pubs and restaurants, making this an ideal destination for an after lunch or dinner beach walk.

Broughty Castle and Museum, right by the seashore is well worth a visit, or you can just take in the mixed architecture of luxury 19th century villas mixed with fishermens' cottages.

Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve

30 minutes away is heaven on earth! Tentsmuir is a stunning nature reserve located on the south side of the Tay Estuary where the wildlife is rich and diverse. The reserve is a mixture of stunning pine forest walks with miles of sand dunes giving way to the long expanse of beach.

We’ll happily provide you a picnic basket to take, or with barbeque's for use on site, supply you steaks for an alfresco beach BBQ.
A popular destination, yet so vast, hardly a soul to be seen.

Lunan Bay

Lunan Bay is a stunning expanse of unspoiled sand, situated in Angus about a 45 minute drive from your Hideaway.  You can enjoy a scenic drive to this beach either cross country or along the Angus coastline from Dundee.

A truly beautiful destination with a glorious sweep of sand, a cave and arch at its northern end, and even a ruined castle.

The Lunan Water flowing separates the beach into two halves giving you a chance to break your walk up by visiting the cafe part way through.

We recommend a drive back home via the famous fishing town of Arbroath for fish and chips next to the sea. Or, buy an Arbroath Smokie (smoked haddock) to enjoy back at your Hideaway.

St Andrews

Drive 40 minutes south from your Hideaway into Fife arriving at West Sands beach in the popular historic university town of St Andrews.
The beach is a dreamy 2 miles of sand made famous by the film, The Chariots of Fire. The beach runs alongside the world famous "Old Course" golf course.

St Andrews the town has an abundance of choice, whether it’s eating or drinking, boutique shops, or historical sites, you could easy spend the entire day here before returning to your bubbling hot tub.

Remember to visit one of our favourites on your way home, the Balgove Larder. Situated on the edge of town they have an excellent farm shop and mouth-watering steak barn restaurant.
