The Sidlaws
You’ll find the Hideaways are nestled just below three of the main Sidlaw Hills. Each hill is linked by the same path so you can challenge yourself to undertake the "three peaks." Immediate and easy access to some of the most beautiful walks in Perthshire and Angus.
Take a walk in the Sidlaws to work up an appetite and enjoy relaxing your legs in the hot tub afterwards.
Balkello Hill
Balkello Hill is the third highest hill of the "3 peaks" behind your Hideaway.
Balkello Hill is a community woodland with miles of easy paths at a lower level and some more challenging hill-top paths. It is a dog friendly area where you dog is free to run off the lead.
The woodland has an open grassy area, overlooking small ponds with a spring making it an ideal spot for a picnic – which we are of course very happy to provide!
From here you can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, the city and the coast!
Auchterhouse Hill
If you want something more ambitious, walk the Auchterhouse Hill, the second highest hill of the "three peaks" in the Sidlaw range.
Craigowl Hills
Craigowl Hill on our farm, is the highest of the "three peaks" behind your Hideaway is more of a moderate walk. Enjoy views of our farm from this hill. We have sheep and cattle in this part of the farm so dogs must be kept on a short lead.
Balkello Farm
You can of course enjoy a quick stretch of the legs on paths at Balkello Farm where the Hideaway resort is located. When the cereals crops have been harvested you can walk on the "stubble" fields during Autumn and Winter.
